In light of the directives of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, may God support him, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has adopted its four national priorities for the research, development, and innovation sector. These are: human health, environmental sustainability and basic needs, leadership in energy and industry, and future economies. These priorities are based on the Kingdom’s competitive advantages and its commitment to addressing the most pressing challenges facing humanity and ensuring the future of coming generations. They serve as a compass to guide all future projects and efforts in the research sector.

Research Priorities of the University of Jeddah
Scientific research and innovation at the University are among the fundamental pillars of its modern vision. They are also key drivers in contributing to the growth of the knowledge-based economy, in alignment with the Kingdom's Vision and the Ministry's focus on research and innovation. In this context, His Excellency the President of the University has issued a directive to update the University’s research priorities and to develop scientific research plans and programs, directing them toward fields involving modern technologies in logistics services, renewable energy, Hajj and Umrah, and defense.

Research production at Jeddah University
Research outputs of the University of Jeddah have reached 5,585 scientific papers published in internationally indexed journals according to the Scopus database. This achievement contributed to the university's advancement in rankings, placing it 12th locally among 22 Saudi universities listed in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 (Timeshighereducation.com), and 13th nationally according to the QS Ranking. Additionally, the university was ranked 20th locally among Saudi universities and 2,274th globally based on the Webometrics Ranking (Webometrics.info, Saudi Arabia, 19/05/2023).

The University of Jeddah has made significant strides in enhancing the quality of international collaboration, with its Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) increasing from 0.46 in 2015 to 1.54 in 2023.
In alignment with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and its strategic goals and priorities, local collaboration has also seen a notable rise, growing from 4.4% in 2015 to 9.2% by mid-2023.
